Сеть с двухуровневой архитектурой, в которой большое число абонентских сетей объединяются с помощью одной магистральной линии. Тонкие клиенты не способны непосредственно взаимодействовать друг с другом. Абонентская сеть обычно использует общий сервер и группу мультиплексоров (рис. Т-4). Небольшие сети могут строиться в виде обычных локальных сетей или объединяться с помощью коммутаторов. В сети тонких клиентов все основные операции выполняются на сетевом сервере, что резко снижает требования к вычислительным ресурсам клиентского оборудования.
